The immediate post-war period saw a lot of older aircraft de-commissioned or put to peacekeeping duties while many of the other aircraft were adapted for a variety of alternative uses like Search and Rescue, Reconnaissance and personnel carrying until they too were superseded by the explosion of jet aircraft from the 1950’s onwards.
