The MGB was produced for eighteen years, far longer than its designers envisaged. A number of changes were made to the car over those years for legislative or market appeal reasons. In 1965 the original pull out door handles were replaced by a push button mechanism and the fuel tank was enlarged to 12 gallons. Then in April 1967 a front anti-roll bar and the quieter Salisbury-type rear axle were fitted; both had been standard on the more expensive GT since it was announced in 1965. The ‘official’ Mk2 MGB was announced in October 1967, when an all synchromesh gearbox and alternator were added. Estimated release date 3rd November
