| The Southern Electricity Board, originated in 1948 as part of the nationalisation of the electricity industry. In 1998 the company merged with Scottish Hydro-Electric plc and became part of Scottish and Southern Energy. Ever since 1948, British Gas has supplied energy to over 4 million heating and kitchen appliances. The Midlands Electricity Board (MEB) was formed in 1947. MEB served southern, and western parts of Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Staffordshire, until the company was sold off in 1990. The Segas’ name is derived from the company’s two operating areas, Spain and Egypt giving raise to SE-Gas. Segas was a major supplier of (LNG) liquefied natural gas in the UK during the 1960’s and 70’s. Estimated release date: June 2008 |
