John Fishwick, whose name the Company still carries on its vehicles, bought a lorry in 1907 for local haulage. He started the beginnings of the passenger business in 1910 by fitting a passenger carrying body to his second lorry at weekends. From such small beginnings the current Company heads for its Centenary in 2007 with 37 stage carriage buses and six coaches. The Company is still family owned, the Directors, John Brindle and James Hustler being great grandsons of founder John Fishwick. The stage carriage vehicles all carry the well known light and dark green livery, first used in 1926 following the purchase of two Leyland PLSC Lions. It is believed to be the longest surviving unchanged livery in public transport today. Fishwicks were loyal to neighbours Leyland Motors for new buses until 1992 when the last new all Leyland bus, Lynx number 14 with cherished registration J14 JFS, was acquired and it is still in service (Corgi modelled this bus some years ago).
