No.195 squadron was formed at Duxford on 16 November 1942 and began to receive Typhoons later in the month. In February 1943 it moved to Lancashire for a period of training and in May arrived in East Anglia to begin flying sweeps and armed reconnaissance missions over France in preparation for the invasion of Europe.
