On Sunday 29th July, Lizzie Armitstead, Hornby's London 2012 Brand Ambassador, sprinted down the Mall in the pouring rain to secure Team GB's first medal on London 2012.
Lizzie broke away from the pelaton with 16 miles to go alongside Russia's Olga Zabelinskaya and Dutch rider Marianne Vos. Despite a valiant sprint finish the 23-year-old Brit was just beaten to the gold by Vos.
Hornby has created a special London 2012 range to commemorate the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
With the brand new Scalextric Velodrome Cycling Set racers can take up the challenge of being the next Lizzie Armitstead as they compete on a miniature version of the actual Olympic track!
The set follows the traditional slot racing format, but instead of using cars, there are two miniature cyclists dressed in GB kits.
Cycling fans have plenty of choice from our range Corgi die-cast models inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
