National Express first became a sponsor of the St Patrick’s Day parade in 2005. To mark this event, a bespoke coach design was created, turning the traditional National Express brand green and its logo into shamrocks, it became a very popular part of the Parade.
Each year National Express has shown its commitment to the local Irish Community by providing the ‘Irish’ coach to pick up elderly and frail people from the local St Ann’s Church taking those who normally wouldn’t be able to see the parade around in style aboard the coach.
National Express has incorporated many features of the Irish Community into the newly built £15m Birmingham coach station, including a large art installation greeting visitors with ‘A Hundred Thousand Welcomes’, the translation of the traditional Irish greeting ‘Caed mil failte’.
