Routemaster

The AEC Routemaster double-decker bus is a truly iconic piece of British culture, originally designed for London Transport and built by the Associated Equipment Company. The original Routemaster was built between 1954 and 1968, with its trademark half-cab, front mounted engine and open rear platform, and was only withdrawn from regular service in London in 2005.

The New Routemaster, originally called the New Bus for London, was introduced in 2012. Designed by Heatherwick Studio, and built by Wrightbus, the updated design still features an open rear platform, but has been made fully accessible by including three doors and two staircases, in addition to a host of other modern features.
