As I haven’t posted on here in some time, I thought I would share a couple of images and a brief bit of info about my current 1:43 scale Vanguards collection.

The overall theme is performance cars and within that I have several sub divisions; namely the Colin McRae tribute collection, Fast Ford, Fast Vauxhall and British performance cars.

The collection is now steadily growing, after I sold a number of surplus models that were purchased before I decided on a set theme.

The latest addition is the Magenta Triumph Stag, which I only just managed to get hold of as it has sold out in record time! I am currently planning on adding an Escort Mk2 Harrier to the Fast Ford shelf (display stand already in place), but deciding whether to get the forthcoming Strato Silver one or earlier Diamond White release.

As I haven’t posted on here in some time, I thought I would share a couple of images and a brief bit of info about my current 1:76 scale bus and coach collection.

The overriding theme is operators based in Yorkshire, but also includes the Lancashire based Blazefield buses to accompany the Yorkshire ones. I generally focus on modern era vehicles but one or two classics are also present. Admittedly, there are several other brands in there, although rather neatly 14 out of the total 28 are Corgi models.

The latest addition is a very special model and I never really believed that I would manage to get hold of one. It is OM41310A - Wright Eclipse Fusion Artic in the orange First Leeds livery from a few years ago. Some may remember that this model was originally announced in the Jan-Jun 2013 release programme but was unceremoniously dropped from the line up later in that year. However, prior to the cancellation, 18 models (9 of each destination) had already been produced and were made available through a ballot via the Corgi Collector Club.

Thanks to eBay, I have now got my hands on an example, certificate number 0008 to be precise. It is now taking place next to one of its sister vehicles in the previous First York Park & Ride livery.

I just need a few more Yorkshire based coach models, other than East Yorkshire Motor Services and Wallace Arnold, if Corgi will eventually choose to revive the toolings again.

E Hattons have a pre-owned service wherby they purchase models from single items upto large collections. I sold a few items to them after I got fed up with eBay, although you only get a fairly modest offer in return. I find it's best for 'lower value' items as a way of getting clear of them and not having to wait for an eternity on eBay.

It only mentions on that page about model railway items but they take various diecast road vehicles too.

Just been browsing and stumbled across the rest of the range revealed, see the link below:

http://www.goldstarstockists.net/live/catalog/model-store-diecast-models-corgi-classics-pre-order-models-2017-january-to-june-c-128_181_182_368_627.html?page=1&sort=2a

No pictures for the newly announced stuff just yet but at least we get an idea of what else is to come. Also, I'm assuming where it says 1:76 scale on the other Vanguards items is a misprint on the web page!

I've just come across an image of the forthcoming catalogue on the Pre Orders page of this website. It confirms that the range is indeed for the Jan - June period and not Jan - March as suggested elsewhere.

Also, despite it being pixelated to disguise the cover imagery, you can make out a double deck bus (looks like a new Routemaster). It therefore seems as though buses will actually feature in the range as well as aircraft and cars but there appears to be no sign of any trucks. I don't think is much of a surprise as they don't seem to have been selling as well as other products of late.

@Andrew_D

A blue Escort Mk1 Mexico has just been revealed on the Advent calendar.

Lovely, a blue one to go with the white one and the yellow one I bought this year, and the red one and the green one I got a decade ago.  Mexico City !!  ..... (/sarcasm)

.

But seriously Corgi, there ARE other versions of the RWD Escort besides the Mexico.  Where's your Mk.2 1600 Sport, for example??

That's exactly what I was thinking, a Mk2 1600 Sport would go down nicely as its a spec that has not been covered by Corgi before. A further option for the Mk2 tooling could be the RS1800 (one of the small number manufactured as road going variants) alongisde the couple of rally versions already done.

I've just filled out a survey that was emailed to me today by Corgi, I think if you have an online account with them you will get one through to your inbox. There were several possible future product suggestions listed and you are asked to rate the ones you would most like to see and the ones you would least like to be produced.

A couple of the suggestions that caught my eye and would be most likely be produced within the Vanguards range are:

- 1960 Jaguar XJ6

- Austin & Morris 1100 & 1300

- Ford Escort Mk4

- Triumph TR6

- Vauxhall Chevette

- Touring Cars collection (presumably would be similiarly executed to the Colin McRae tribute collection as a range of siginificant cars from through the years.)

- British Royal Family car collection

For non car collectors, there are also suggestions for Aircraft, Military vehicles, Hornby trains and some other bits.

I was thinking maybe just maybe there might be the chance of a brand new tooling being announced, especially as they were bothering to reveal it at the show. Unfortunately, yet again the majority of collectors will be left disappointed and I very much doubt the new range will be worth getting excited about.

Also, when are we going to get a date for the new range announcement?

Oh look, another plane - didn't see that coming!

Also, where's the 'What's on the desk' feature gone?
