Description
Despite the 1600E Mk2 Cortina's success, the E badge (for Executive) didn't appear on the Mk3 until the full range facelift of September 1973, over 3 years after its launch. The 2000E featured teak interior trim, rectangular headlamps, sports road wheels, a vinyl roof to differentiate it from lesser Cortinas, and cost £1638. The example modelled was first registered on January 13th 1975 and bought by its second owner, Leonard Arthur Robinson, on January 10th 1979 from used car dealers Bishop and Bishop in Leicestershire. It was used until early 1983 then parked in the family's garage until 2015 when the current owner, Ford enthusiast Andy Taylor from Northamptonshire, acquired and recommissioned it.

Corgi outsold this model at preorder stage so I purchased it on eBay. Had I saw it in the flesh previously I certainly would not have paid £30 for it. The interior is wrong, as is the paint work. Sharpen up the tooling corgi or collectors will walk.

One rather large irritation!
Whilst I find these Corgi Mk3s, (especially the 2000Es), a good representation of this classic Ford, the real annoyance for me is the lazy, cost-cutting inclusion of the 'American, slope-away' dash from the earlier, pre '73 Vanguard Mk3s. ALL 2000Es were fitted with the post '73 facelift (what we now know as the) Mk4 dash. As Corgi market the Mk4 in various guises, this dash was already moulded. How much work would it have been to get this detail correct? It took me about 20 minutes with a donor Mk4, a nail file, and a tube of Superglue.

Disappointing
As above, a nice model (I'll forgive the manual gear lever in the middle of the interior) but The quality is pathetic. I didn't go through the process of sending it back but mine has sloppy touching up which doesn't quite match. For basically £30, it's a little insulting. Corgi need to have some serious words with their manufacturer, and maybe write some penalty clauses into their next contract.
