| Description

Triumph Stag Mk2, Magenta.

The Stag modelled was built on January 22nd 1974 and supplied on March 1st of the same year by BL dealers Kitchen Bros, Diss, Norfolk, to local company director Mr R.H. Howell, who fitted a larger engine fan, then a common accessory on Stags. It was then owned by Fakenham-based car accessory shop owner Derek Smith, who had the engine rebuilt by LA Whitmore & Co of Briston. Andrew Johnson of Hunstanton acquired it in March 1983. He retained it, little used, until April 21st 2008 when it was purchased by current custodian Peter Hilton, of restoration specialists Hilton and Moss, who was then looking for an original, unmodified, manual-overdrive Stag to restore.

This example was a good restoration prospect because there were no poor repairs to remove and, although the car had been standing for some years, Johnson had stored it indoors, oiled the structure to reduce corrosion and kept the trim in good condition. At the time Hilton was running an accident repair bodyshop and, as both he and some members of staff had a passion for classic cars, was looking to diversify into restoration and used the Stag as a test. Consequently it had a very thorough and complete restoration that included new panels and a high-quality re-spray. It is displayed at Essex-based Hilton and Moss, the company its restoration triggered the creation of, and is regarded as one of the UK's best examples.

Superb model

This is a beautiful model, why do models look better than the original car? also how come this model was pulled from the 2017 release because of "lack of orders" and is now sold out already?
